Fawn

So the USGS office I work in is right next door to the research house I live in. Every day I walk back to the house for lunch. Well this house is sort of like the Real World without the drama. We constantly have people moving in and out - and I don't even get some of their names they come and go so quickly. This girl named Heather was moving out when I went home about an hour ago and vacuuming everything (Truthfully I had thought she moved out about 6 days I ago I hadn't seen her, heh). Anyway so I'm in the kitchen cooking and she's vacuuming and suddenly I see a brown dog sized blob fly by the kitchen window really fast. It seemed a bit fast for a dog so I was like "what the hell was that?". She didn't hear me, but one of the guys there from Japan did and I ran to the window. I was just explaining to him what I was talking about when it flew by again, and this time stopped - right next to a large doe. It was a deer fawn, and apparently just discovered the art of running. It was VERY fast. I've seen many deer run, but this guy was quick. So I'm trying to inform all of my roomies that there is a baby deer prancing in our backyard over the sound of the vacuum. Once I made my point and the vacuum was off they saw it, but none were as impressed as I was apparently. The little guy was running and jumping things and just prancing like from a cartoon, 20 feet from the window in the back yard. I got a picture once they had moved off into the woods a bit, but didn't have time to get one of him prancing right beside us.

First

I'm not much of a blogger, but I was having fun reading Krista's and this seems a good way to keep track of my experiences in Montana. This is the most amazing place I've ever been to, and its going to take awhile just to catch up on all the stories of the first two weeks here. It's a shame I didn't start this earlier. For now though I'll probably just link my photobucket album so all you readers (Krista) can look at pretty pictures. My back hurts and I've been sitting here for 9 or so hours working in arcmap.

Hopefully that works! I'll try to get the first few stories up by tomorrow.
